The 5-day exercise is part of the Ministry of Health's efforts to ensure zero cases of Polio are reported in the country.

Uasin Gishu Health CeC Margret Chepkwony said the exercise targets children aged below 5-years.

"This is because these children are more vulnerable to the Polio virus,'' she said during the launch of the exercise at the Uasin Gishu District Hospital, in Eldoret.

Flanked by several County Health officers and representatives from World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, Chepkwony assured locals that the vaccine being administered was safe.

Her sentiments were echoed by WHO County official Shem Kipton. He said the vaccine was tested vigorously and could not cause any harm when administered to children.
