Kisii public health officer, George Ombati has called upon Kisii parents to aid in the Polio vaccine exercise that is set to end tomorrow.
He was speaking in Kisii saying some parents have myths and beliefs about the polio vaccine.
“We are aware that some parents are hiding their children against the polio vaccine exercise in the name of population control," said Ombati.
"That is not true. The exercise is pure and ought to kick polio out of our county," he added.
“For parents who have already had their children vaccinated and those who understand the importance, please educate the others so that no child is kept out of the exercise,” he added.
He warned parents who don’t allow their children to get vaccinated that stern legal action will be taken against them.
He also cautioned on some denominations that don’t allow its followers to seek medication.
“It is illegal to deny one treatment, especially young children who don’t have a choice," said Ombati.
"There are some spiritual individuals who don’t allow their followers and their children to get the vaccine legal action will be taken against you,” he said.
