Joho, who also doubles as Orange Democratic Movement deputy party leader, had his security details withdrawn a week ago after differing with President Uhuru Kenyatta openly.

On Thursday, Joho released security guards attached to his official residence, slightly a day after summoning the government to withdraw them.

“He is courageous and stands for what is right. It is wrong to withdraw security officers without tangible reasons and then you reinstate them,” Mamboleo said.

He added: “Kenya is a free country where we express our opinions openly. It is wrong to use government machineries to intimidate someone. I fully support his decision.”

The outspoken governor maintained on Wednesday that he could do without bodyguards adding that only God provides security.
