Issuing the warning through a statement issued on Friday, April 8, 2016 the Catholic Church through its Bishops under the umbrella of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops KCCB also warned that the Catholic Churches will not be used as platforms for foul language or campaign rhetoric.

"As your shepherds we are not going to allow our Churches and institutions to become platforms of political rhetoric, campaign venues foul language and hideouts for looted funds and corrupt monies," said part of the statement.

The Catholic Bishops have also asked politicians to stop making inciting comments that are now raising the political temperatures in the country especially now that we are approaching the next general elections.

"If the very legislators elected to represent the Kenyans in formulating policies of developing lives are accomplices in corruption, shuttling around the country, making inciting statements that raise political temperatures especially when elections are near, then our country is sick. We must put an end to this. We, the Catholic Bishops wish to raise our voices to our political leaders and say, this must stop," added part of the statement.

The statement also condemned the recent scandal involving the education sector, with last year's national exams marred with cases of cheating across the country.

"Cheating in exams has far reaching consequences not only for our education system but the integrity of the Country itself. The people involved in this racket have punctured the integrity of our education. All those officials involved in the racket should not only be sacked but should be brought to book and punished accordingly," added the statement.

In addition, the church also wants all the leaders who hold public positions who are linked to corruption scandals to step aside in order to pave way for investigations.

"Those holding public positions and linked with corruption must step aside immediately to pave way for investigation," added the statement.
