Kilonzo said several children from schools in the region will attain 18 years age before sitting their KCSE examinations this year.

“Some children will be 18 before they sit their KCSE this year, Kalonzo should push so that children across Ukambani Region are issued with IDs and voters cards before sitting their examinations,” said Kilonzo.

He addressed the press at Kangundo Girls High School in Matungulu sub-county on Tuesday.

Kilonzo claimed the state was issuing IDs and voters cards to all who had attained age 18 in all counties within Central Kenya region.

“This is only happening in Jubilee strongholds, state agents move to schools and hospitals issuing IDs and voters cards to those who have become 18 years,” said Kilonzo.

He said all Kenyans should be issued with the documents as their constitutional rights without bias.

“IDs should not be given selectively just because of elections, anybody who attains age 18 should be issued with the document,” said Kilonzo.

Kilonzo said it is injustice to deny citizens IDs because they cannot access financial services from institutions, get jobs and pay taxes, “When state fails to give IDs to youths, it denies itself (the same government) taxes,” he said.

He said Kalonzo should not be excited with big crowds that attend his political rallies whenever he holds them in Counties within Ukambani region.

“Big crowds in your rallies do not mean you will win the 2017 elections thinking all those in the crowd have IDs and voter cards, mobilize your supporters to register for the documents before the polls,” said Kilonzo.

Kilonzo said the Cord coalition should engage IEBC in a friendly manner to conduct voter registration in its strongholds.

The Chama Cha Uzalendo candidate said Ukambani residents should not vote parties but development conscious individuals who can liberate them from abject poverty.

He said Wiper had lost grip and is no longer popular in the region.

“Wiper is not strong in Ukambani, Kalonzo is the only strong person,” said Kilonzo.
