Serving for his first term, Geni caused drama at a funeral in Nyaramaba for one of his predecessor Geofrey Masanya in one of the most dramatic funeral.

When masters of ceremony failed to surrender the programme to him, an agitated Geni dismantled the public address system and sped off from the funeral.

"I just wanted to bring order because certain elements had taken us for granted. It was the best antidote for those who misbehave," he defended his actions.

With chaos engulfing the funeral in 2016, Geni would later promise to compensate a local Church that had reportedly given the PA for the function.

"I was only targeting some goons but I respect the church. I will compensate all North Mugirango churches with public address before my tenure ends," he told reporters in a past interview.

Since losing his seat in 2017, Geni has reverted to managing his vast business and has rarely spoken on the current political impasse in the country.
