The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced March 26 as the d-day for the Kitui West parliamentary by-election.
This follows the death of Francis Nyenze who was serving a third term.
Already daggers have been drawn and at stake is the coveted Wiper ticket.
Realist politicians believe whoever bags the ticket will go home with the by-election's victory.
In the race for the ticket, which has become a battle of titans, two big families are facing off.
That of popular Nyiva Mwendwa and that of late Nyenze.
The Mwendwa's have fronted Maluki Kitili while the Nyenze's have have fingered Edith Vethi - widow to Nyenze.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is torn in between the two choices from powerful families and said voters will decide.
He promised that his party's nomination will be free and fair.
As things stand, either Vethi or Maluki will be the next Kitui West MP
