Juja MP Francis Munyua has asked politicians both in Jubilee and Cord to exercise political tolerance and humility ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The MP said peaceful 2017 general elections will be guaranteed if politicians keep off acts that could trigger violence.
Speaking to journalists after holding a meeting with religious leaders at a local hotel in Juja town on Wednesday, Munyua said political supremacy being perpetuated by some politicians both in Jubilee and Cord is a recipe for violence.
“Despite our different ideologies as politicians we have a responsibility to preach peace and unite Kenyans,” said the Juja lawmaker.
The MP asked Kenyans not to be swayed by political intolerance by some politicians.
Munyua called on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to be alert and take action against perpetrators of violence.
“The NCIC should be ready to act tough on politicians who might be tempted to spew hate before, during and even after the 2017 elections,” he added.
At the same time, the MP asked youth to keep off politicians and individuals who might want to cause violence during the forthcoming general elections.
