[Photo| Nation]A handful of Kisumu residents on Tuesday, December 12, attended the Jamhuri Day celebrations at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Grounds in Kisumu. According to the less than 300 locals who attended the event told the Star that they only wanted to be entertained and were not interested in following the celebrations from the day.The celebrations were however snubbed by the National Super Alliance (Nasa) leaders in the region led by Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o, Senator Fred Outa, MP Fred Ouda.Government officials who attended the function included County commissioner Pauline Dola and police commander John Kamau.When Dola stood to read the President’s speech, it was only her colleagues from the national government and journalists covering the event.In Nairobi, the majority of Kenyans skipped the celebration at Kasarani Complex grounds which was presided by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
