There was political drama at Marani Secondary School when Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi slammed Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati on his recent political activities in Kisii County.
It all started when Mr Maangi said that Mr Arati was imposing himself on the people of Kisii yet they were not ready to give him an ear.
He said that Mr Arati should stick to city politics and leave Kisii politics for him and Governor James Ongwae.
"We are sorry to Simba Aarati as the community is not ready to endorse you at their spokesperson as currently we only recognize Ongwae and am sure after his retirement he will pass the mantle to me and we would like to advise you to concentrate in Nairobi Politics," said Maangi.
The Deputy Governor said that the Kisii spokesperson was Governor James Ongwae and they will not recognise Mr Arati as the holder of the position.
However, when he took to the podium, Mr Arati said that he was not ready to have any differences with Gusii leaders but instead asked them to work together.
He asked Mr Maangi who is eyeing the Kisii County Governorship seat in 2022 to stop panicking and concentrate on delivering the promises that they made to the people of Kisii.
"I represent the people of Kisii county whenever I go and am not seeking any political seat from the region. I don't know why someone will pick a political battle with me," he said.
