A group of Mombasa youth opposing the National Resistance Movement has said the current political uncertainty being witnessed in the country will negatively affect the tourism sector in the coastal city.Led by Stephen Murem, the group on Friday claimed that the Raila Odinga-led movement will only cause more political uncertainty in the country, which will, in turn, affect businesses. They condemned the recent nationwide anti-IEBC demonstrations to push for reforms in the electoral body, saying the protests had a negative impact on the Coast region’s economy.Mure argued that the political stalemate being witnessed in the country, which he said has attracted negative publicity from both local and international media, will force tourists to cancel their visits to the country.“The tourism sector will be affected as no tourist will want to visit a destination known for instability,” he said.He said if citizens want to engage the government over certain issues, it should not be done in a way that will be detrimental to the well-being of the country and its people. His sentiments were echoed by Emanuel Ndurya who said that the political instability in the country was affecting the tourism industry, especially in Mombasa and Kwale.
