The government has raised concerns that ongoing political uncertainties over the repeat presidential election is negatively impacting on businesses across the country.

Principal Secretary at the State Department of Trade Dr. Chris Kiptoo says since the nullification of the August 8 Presidential results, the country has been experiencing a slowed business operations.

Speaking at the Eldoret National Polytechnic on Thursday, the PS expressed optimism that the current political uncertainties will soon come to an end and allow the country to move forward.

“Business always slow down during an election period and at the moment we are hoping that the current situation doesn't go beyond what we've already seen,” noted Dr. Kiptoo.

“Even as we engage in this political contest, we are hoping that those involved will consider the need for stability as this is a key recipe for growth in businesses," he added.

The PS insisted that for the country's economy to flourish, stability was paramount.

There has been uncertainties facing the upcoming repeat presidential poll after the oppositions National Super Alliance (NASA) flag-bearer Raila Odinga declared that we would not take part in the October 26 poll.

He has since insisted that there will be no election until IEBC gives into their demands for electoral reforms.
