A Jubilee Member of County Assembly in Uasin Gishu has raised concern that the political uncertainty in the country over the repeat presidential election is impacting negatively on the economy.

The Cheptiret/Kipchamo MCA Gilbert Tenai claims investors both local and international are now afraid to put their investments in the county due to the current political situation.

Speaking in Eldoret on Sunday, Tenai said the multi-billion Industrial Park, at Plateau in his ward had stalled as a result of the uncertainties.

"Those African Economic Zone (AEZ) investors are now saying that will wait until the elections are over before they proceed with the project," said Tenai.

"People are also afraid to open new businesses because they fear the current situation is not favorable," he added.

The first time MCA who is also the Uasin Gishu County Assembly deputy majority whip however assured investors and locals that elected leaders in the county will ensure a peaceful election process.
