The management of Iranya primary school may face prosecution after an area politician raised an alarm over selling of three bags of maize weighing 90kg each that were apparently donated by him.
Speaking at Gesima market on Tuesday, Mr Charles Mokaya, who is an aspiring MCA from Gesima ward, said the teachers committee of the institution that was in charge of the exercise had allegedly sold the maize that was meant for school pupils.
He urged the local administration to take action against the school committee led by headteacher Abere Nyanchae for allegedly committing the act.
“I donated the maize but unfortunately, they have never implemented the feeding programme. We have investigated and even parents have confirmed that. It will be essential for the parents to see their children taking lunch in school as I had promised,” he said.
Mokaya warned teachers of taking advantage of his silence over the matter and vowed to conduct an audit across all 14 institutions in the ward to ascertain whether the institutions had implemented the plan.
“I will soon take an audit because some people are taking us for granted. When we call for implementation of a project, please do so because we are serving the public and they ask us a lot of questions,” he added.
However, efforts to reach the school head were futile since he could neither respond to calls or text messages.
