A Nyamira County based politician has celebrated after Machakos county Governor Alfred Mutua lost his seat.
Victor Swanya, Wiper party vice chairman welcomed the court of appeal’s ruling saying Mutua has been chest thumbing to be the only leader from the Kamba region.
“Mutua has undermined, disrespected Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka. The court of appeal has spoken and it is clear Mutua didn’t win the election fairly and transparently as he is claiming,” he said.
The vocal politician said Wavinya Ndeti who was vying the seat on a Wiper Party ticket won the governorship seat but Mutua bribed IEBC to declare him a winner.
“The nullification of Governor Mutua’s win now tells us who won the election last year. It is time the people of Machakos should go into the ballot and elect Wavinya Ndeti, a Wiper Party candidate to lead the electorates and not Mutua who imposed himself to the people,” he said.
He called onMutua to respect the court ruling and go back to the electorates saying if he appeals again at the Supreme Court he will still lose because the election process for the Machakos governorship was marred by irregularities.
