A political aspirant based in Nakuru town has volunteered to settle a hospital bill for an orphan girl who lives with her widowed grandmother at Nyamakoroto slum area near Teachers estate. While signing the cheque of Sh30,000 at the home of Milkah Mutinda witnessed by neigbours and church leaders on Thursday, James Kaka, a businessman and political activist, said philanthropy is a God-given gift and virtue that few people in any society posses. He said that he was moved by the widow’s narration of how her late daughter-the mother of the sick standard six girl died while giving birth to her second born child Mercy Mwende who is now suffering from anemic related ailments. He said he acted to save the poor family from the accumulating hospital debt after the girl was admitted at the Nakuru General Hospital in November last year after collapsing in a school classroom. “Am not acting to play politics: It is out of humility. After mama Mutinda approached me and told me the story of her life. Am not rich but I was moved and I know God will give back, said Kaka who unsuccessfully vied for the Menengai Ward County Representative seat in the last general elections on a Narc-Kenya ticket. Kaka who was accompanied by the area sub-chief Japheth Karanja and a youth lobby group leader Antony Waweru urged the county government to come up with a medical scheme that will cater for poor orphans and widows.
