A Kisii based politician has defended Interior CS Fred Matiang’i from the numerous insults following the ongoing crackdown on NASA leaders who attended Raila Odinga’s swearing in ceremony on Tuesday.
Isaac Mokua Onchagwa who unsuccessfully vied for Kisii County senator seat during the August 8 elections said it is bad for elected leaders especially those from the Gusii community to insult Matiang’i who is working by the law.
“It is a big shame Kisii leaders are leading in insulting one of their own just because he was working under security docket. The insults are uncalled for and I am urging the leaders who have insulted and abused CS Matiang’i to apologize and allow him work as the law states,” he said.
He said the leaders opposed to the way the CS is working should use the right channels to remove him from office instead of using insults.
“If NASA leaders are not happy how Matiang’i is running the Interior ministry, let them use right channels to remove him from office and stop using abusive remarks which will land them in jail,” he added.
Onchagwa said opposition leaders who break the law should be punished.
“Lawbreakers should face the full force of the law. Odinga’s swearing in ceremony was illegal and all who were involved should be arrested and prosecuted for trying to overthrow a government,” he added.
