Nicholas Wanyepe, a Kilifi South politician was on Saturday arrested, for allegedly being in possession with materials that are inciting in nature.

Wanyepe vied but lost to the current MP Ken Chonga in the August 8 elections.

According to Kilifi county police boss Ben Kogo, Wanyepe will be arraigned in court on Monday.

“I am out of Kilifi but that is what I was briefed about. He is in custody. We will take him to court tomorrow,” Kogo says as quoted by the Star.

Wanyepe is a member of the National Resistance Movement, a movement that was created by NASA leader Raila Odinga after the August elections.

His arrest comes two days before the swearing in of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who will receive instruments of power on Tuesday.

The NASA coalition has indicated that they will hold a parallel rally at Jacaranda on Tuesday, one that police officials have warned of.

According to Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome, whoever will be caught on Tuesday going to the grounds will be dealt according to the law.
