He stormed Nyanza politics during the 2007 general elections and sent home Tobias Ocholla who had served Nyatike constituency for three terms.
Ten years later, immediate former area MP Edick Anyanga is facing race against time to bring his political career back on track after 2017 humiliation.
Just like his own political triumph a decade ago, it was political novice Tom Odege who cut short Anyanga's checkered political career.
Generally, the constituency has long history of underdogs toppling bigwigs.
During his tenure that was marred by controversies, Anyanga grew in political stature. In his own native Migori County, he was NASA leader fiercest defender and his 2017 loss came as a surprise to many.
After the 2013 election which Raila lost to Uhuru Kenyatta in the presidential race, Anyanga hit headlines when he announced that he was ready to give up his seat for the former Prime Minister to return to Parliament and put the government on check.
To him, that was the time Kenya needed Raila most. However, his suggestion did not materialize.
It was however, two years later when his troubles started when wrangles rocked parliamentary Public Accounts Committee which was at the time led by Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba.
The troubled committee was later disbanded and Anyanga failed to make it to the new one.
In December 2016, he was involved in a bitter exchange with ODM chairman John Mbadi. And to many, that was the time his fate was sealed.
With attention now shifting to 2022, will the vocal yet controversial politician make swift return to Parliament or has been permanently consigned to the 'political dustbin' ?
