Opposition leader Raila Odinga has said politicians, mainly from Jubilee who are against NASA’s decision to establish a parallel vote tallying centre plan to rig the August 8 election.
Raila who spoke during an interview with a local radio station said nothing will stop the opposition coalition from establishing the tallying centre which he says will help NASA track its performance after voting.
“If somebody is not planning to steal the election why worry,” he asked.
“If the IEBC is planning to announce election results as they are why should there be panic in Jubilee?”
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party recently expressed fears over NASA’s proposed establishment of a parallel tallying centre in Tanzania.
“We are aware that by stationing its back up servers in Tanzania, they can proclaim Raila the winner using their own tally and declare him president in a neighbouring country as it happened in Gambia recently,” a member of Jubilee’s think tank said last week.
On Thursday, Third Way Alliance Presidential Candidate Ekuru Aukot also expressed his fears that NASA is up to no good with its Tanzania-based tallying centre server.
“I am worried about NASA’s plans to set up a parallel tallying centre in Tanzania. If offends our Constitution and undermines our soverignity,” Aukot said.
