Machakos county commissioner Matilda Sakwa has warned politicians against inflammatory talk ahead of the repeat presidential election slated for next month.

In a briefing with journalists in Machakos Town on Sunday, Sakwa said that rogue politicians who will be caught fanning hatred will have themselves to blame.

The county commissioner urged politicians across the divide to conduct themselves in an acceptable manner as they conduct campaigns for the favorite presidential candidates.

She said that police will be alert and will not hesitate to arrest politicians who incite violence.

“We are humbly telling politicians to observe the law as they conduct campaigns for their preferred presidential candidates,” he said as quoted by the Star.

The commissioner urged residents to be peaceful as the wait for the repeat presidential poll.

Political temperatures are high across the country as eligible Kenyans prepare to vote in the repeat presidential election.

Last week, Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua received a hostile reception in Tala town after his meeting was cut short by residents who were chatting NASA slogans.

Mutua who has declared support for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the repeat poll was booed by angry residents forcing him to flee the area.

The Machakos governor later blamed NASA top leaders who he accused of allegedly inciting Kamba community against Jubilee government.
