The Chief Kadhi has urged politicians to desist from spewing hate utterances as the country moves closer to holding an election.

Al Mukhdhar A.S. Hussein said politicians hold the key to the country’s peace in August adding reckless statements at political rallies were a recipe for violence.The National Cohesion and Integration Commission is currently burning the midnight oil training officials whose responsibility is to track hate political statements made at rallies.NCIC in conjunction with the Interior ministry is also in the process of procuring special gadgets that will record speeches made by suspected hatemongering politicians.“Politicians should not divide Kenyans,” Al Mukhdhar said at Ronald Ngala Primary School grounds in Mombasa during celebration to mark Eid al-Fitr.“We subscribe to different political ideologies and beliefs. But this should not be ground for us to hate one another.”He spoke hours after Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery said law enforcement agencies will not take lightly cases involving hate spread.The former Kajiado Central MP said law enforcement agencies will track, investigate, arrest and prosecute suspected hate propagators irrespective of their status in society.During opposition leader Raila Odinga’s second last tour of Kajiado, President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and Nkaissery accused him of spreading hatred.They claimed Raila instructed members of the Maasai community to evict non-Maasai’s from Kajiado and Narok. In unison, they argued, this amounted to hate mongering.Raila defended himself saying he only advised the Maasai to desist from selling their land.Politicians who have so far been arrested and charged for spreading hate include Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba), Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete), Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati) and woman reps Florence Mutua (Busia) and Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi).
