According to Professor Tumbo Oeri, elected leaders are asleep in their jobs without knowing that they are employed by the people who voted for them.

Oeri who was speaking in Kisii town said that most of them are proud to be called ‘Mheshimiwa’ without doing anything to help residents.

“Our elected leaders are proud when we call them ‘Mheshimiwa ‘for my opinion should call them ‘Mtumishi’ since we are the one who have employed them,” said Oeri.

He added that the name “Mheshimiwa has made them forget their mandate of serving the residents who elected them.

“I am sure that if we call them ‘Watumishi’ since we are the one who need their services they are going to help us with development projects rather than calling them ‘Waheshimiwa', he added.

“Those people we call themselves 'Waheshimiwa' are allegedly using cash during elections to get votes and after they are elected you have no way of complaining to them about development projects,” he said.
