A politician from Machakos County has urged leaders to end their political differences and focus on uniting the country.
Peter Nzioka who hails from Matungulu Sub County said the prolonged divisive politics is bad for the country's economy.
Nzioka said the heightened political tension across the country had scared away investors who fear for their safety.
He said politicking has scared away investors who fear for their safety.
"Kenyans faced a lot of challenges during the last year’s elections. Now that we are in a different year, I am appealing to politicians to shun hatred politics and put aside their differences for the sake of peace and unity in the country,” Said Nzioka.
He addressed the congregation at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Tala on Sunday.
Nzioka added that several challenges such as insecurity, lack of food and water need to be addressed urgently and leaders should focus on solving the problems and not adding the problems.
“We should not blame one another because if we do that nothing will be solved, leaders need to work as a team to develop the country,” he noted.
He urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga to hold talks and end the stalemate for the country to move forward.
