Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has criticized the rate at which Jubilee politicians are dishing out money at fundraisers.
Speaking during NTV's morning show on Tuesday, Midiwo claimed the money being dished out in the harambees was looted from the public coffers.
According to Midiwo, there is no way a leader can donate millions of shillings every week and purport to have rightfully earned the money through his or her businesses.
"The effect of harambees on corruption is great," he said.
"The political leaders at the county levels are receiving a lot of harambee cards day in day out and this is the main reason why political leaders loot to be able to donate in these harambees. Leaders as low as the MCAs receive at least 30 harambee cards in a week and where would they get that amount to give?" posed Midiwo.
The Gem legislator further criticized Deputy President William Ruto for giving out large sums of money in funds drives.
According to Midiwo, giving such huge amounts of cash justifies that other leaders could unscrupulously obtain money and give it out to the people.
