Meru County Senator Kiraitu Murungi has claimed that some politicians are using the Meru-Isiolo border clashes as a campaign tool.

The Jubilee governor hopeful in Meru County urged politicians from warring counties to stop taking advantage of the clashes to seek votes.

He said politicians should preach peace and be ambassadors of peace in all their rallies.

“Candidates should stop politicizing these clashes. Some are taking advantage of the incident to hunt votes in the area” said Murungi on Thursday.

The senator asked church leaders to pray for the country for peaceful elections.

13 people have been killed following the clashes along the Isiolo - Meru border.
