The MYWO chairperson warned that there will be no peace if hate mongers are allowed in society.

"These people belong to jail and appropriate legal action must be taken against them,” she said on Phone on Sunday.

The Machakos MYWO chair said that politicians have loose tongues which they can easily use to burn the country.

Ms Mutinda urged the police to deal firmly with the hate mongers. “The police and the prosecution agency must ensure that perpetrators of hate are sent to jail so that we can have peace,” she said.

She observed that some politicians were taking advantage of the electioneering period to perpetuate hate speech.

Last week on Tuesday the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the police warned that it will not tolerate hate mongers anymore.

NCIC chairperson Francis Ole Kaparo said that it was not going to be business as usual on matters hate speech.

He said that agency is collaborating with other government institutions to tame hate mongers ahead of the 2017 general elections.

On last week Tuesday, several MPs allied to Jubilee and opposition were arrested and charged in court over alleged hate remarks they are said to have made recently.

The MPs among them Gatundu South Moses Kuria, Kabete’s Ferdinand Waititu, Nakuru Town’s Kimani Ngunjiri, Suna East Junet Mohammed were arraigned in court over incitement.

The lawmakers who spent four days in cell were released on bail on Friday pending hearing of their cases.
