Havard scholar Prof Calestous Juma was finally laid to rest on Saturday, January 6 at his home in Bumina Village in Budalangi in an event that brought the government and the opposition together.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was represented by Foreign affairs Cabinet secretary Amina Mohammed and her environment counterpart Ms. Judy Wakhungu while the opposition was represented by National Super Alliance (Nasa) Raila Odinga and his co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula.

Opposition Chief Raila Odinga did not hesitate to take a swipe at the government saying that Kenya has been lagging behind other African states owing to poor leadership and the opposition will continue to push for electoral reforms and oust the government.

“We must achieve electoral justice to end tyrannical type of leadership that has cost us development. Our journey to Canaan is on course whether they like it or not,” Mr. Odinga said.

NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi that the government has sidelined parts of the country and they will continue to rally behind the former premier to achieve electoral Justice.

Moses Wetangula in the event said that the Jubilee government has been rewarding 'mediocrity at the expense of talent.'

However, president Kenyatta steered clear of politics in a speech read by environmental CS Ms. Judy Wakhungu in the opposition Bedrock.

President Kenyatta urged Kenyans to emulate the fallen professor saying that he was keen on innovation and loved reading and learning.
