The Maendeleo Chap Chap leader and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is likely to garner 51 percent against his political rival former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti's 49 percent if an election is held today.
According to a three-day poll conducted between Friday 8th June and to Monday 11th June by Tuko news Kenya, the majority of respondents believed Mutua was better placed to steer the county to greater heights.
The Court of Appeal last Friday nullified the governor's election victory following a successful petition by Ndeti.
This is after the appellant court's judges ruled that the election results declared by the IEBC's returning officer did not meet the constitutional test and could not be verified.
This made the judge to order fresh elections in Machakos county.
If the Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua lives with the Court of Appeal's ruling and gets to the polls now, he will surely floor his main challenger Ndeti.
This is due to a three day independent Poll conducted between Friday 8th June and to Monday 11th June by Tuko news Kenya, which showed a tight race between the two political foes with the Chap Chap movement leader against Ndeti's.
3300 respondents were polled in the online survey.
Majority of the interviewers said they would still vote again for the governor owing to his development track record.
Others, however, said Mutua's woes were part of a bigger scheme by his perceived political enemies to dim his presidential star.
The former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti 's supporters claimed that the Wiper politician won the gubernatorial seat but was rigged out.
