Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar and Women Representative Mishi Mboko are on course to defend their seats if elections were held today according to the latest opinion poll released on Monday by Infotrak.
Despite the fact that Omar is running for Governor, 13 per cent of the residents prefer him running for the Senatorial seat.According the poll, Omar is closely followed by Abdulsalam Kassim who was backed by 12 per cent of the respondents.Former Mombasa Youth Executive Mohamed Abass who resigned to make a plunge into politics comes third with seven per cent supporting his bid to replace Omar while Mombasa Deputy Governor Hazel Katana who recently ditched ODM for Jubilee Party to vie for the seat managed an insignificant backing. However, should Omar win the Wiper certificate and take on Governor Hassan Joho, then Kassim will take control of the race that is slowly becoming crowded. In the race for the Women Representative seat, the incumbent, Mishi Mboko, is firmly in control of the battle with a commanding 44 per cent.Aisha Hussein Mohamed came a distant second with five per cent while Millicent Adhiambo who is expected to vie on an ANC party managed four per cent.
