IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati has said the electoral agency is fully prepared to conduct the repeat presidential elections on Thursday.Addressing journalists at the Bomas of Kenya, Chebukati called on Kenyans to wake up early and go cast their votes to their preferred candidates as all polling stations will open at 6am.“I urge Kenyans to wake up early tomorrow, go cast their votes and wait for the results at home,” he said.Chebukati said the government has assured of adequate protection to all the parties that will participate in the process.“Last week I met the President (Uhuru Kenyatta) and he assured us the government will protect everyone including our officers on the ground,” he stated. In what might be interpreted to be criticsm aimed at former IEBC Commissioner Roselyn Akombe, Chebukati said: “It is indeed sad that someKenyans find it easier to protest about Kenya issues when they are abroad than when they are within the borders of this country.” He condemned police brutality and registered his disappointment over the same.“When the very people we are expected to run to in times of trouble are the ones attacking us then as a country we are at our lowest,” he said.
