Nation Media Group’s Chief Executive Officer Joseph Muganda will be taking charge as Vivo Energy’s Managing Director from February 2018.
The post was previously held by current Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe.
Muganda who has been at the helm of the media group for two and a half years, announced his resignation on Monday, December 11 to staff ahead of his late January exit. He joined the company in July 2015 from regional brewers EABL.
NMG chairman Mr Wildred Kiboro stated that the company’s Group Finance Director Mr Stephen Gitagama will take over in an acting capacity.
He assured shareholders and the public that the structural changes are part of the usual practice in the corporate world.
“Mr Muganda has aggressively driven our product portfolio review, presided over a general restructuring and re-oriented the business to seize the opportunities presented by the digital disruption in the media sector,” said Mr Kiboro, as quoted by Nation.
Vivo Energy has its hopes high on having Mr Muganda on board.
“I am delighted to welcome Mr Muganda as the new Managing Director of Vivo Energy Kenya. When he joins in February, his vast experience will bring great added value,” a statement by Mr David Mureithi read.
Mr Mureithi is Vivo Energy’s Executive Vice President for East and South Region.
