Hundreds of residents, and tourists flocked Fort Jesus in Mombasa on Friday, for the historic Mombasa Shopping and Food Festival.

The colorful event which has attracted thousands of both local and foreign tourists kicked off on March 30, and would end on April 4, as announced by Governor Ali Hassan Joho and the Department of Trade, Tourism and Investment.

The department's CeC Fawz Rashid said Mombasa Shopping and Food Festival provides a chance to explore and experience the rich culture of Mombasa. 

A special delegation from Shanxi Province of the People’s Republic of China who are looking for investment opportunities in Mombasa County also visited Fort Jesus, led by Tourism CeC to enjoy various Swahili cuisines.

A number of exhibitors have also erected exhibition booths for selling of various products such as tournaments and jewellery, body wears among others.

"Day One of the Mombasa Shopping and Food Festival at Fort Jesus. Come visit the exhibitors booths and get yourself the best products at best prices," a welcoming message from the Tourism department read on Friday.
