The annual Mombasa International Cultural Festival officially kicked off on Friday dotted with colourful performances from various entertainment groups.
The event, graced by political leaders from Coast is expected to attract over 10,000 local and international holiday makers.
Some of the thrilling performances came from Maasai morans who pleasured visitors with traditional dances.
Visitors before the opening ceremony matched along the streets of Mombasa displaying traditional regalia.
Other sporting activities that punctuated the ceremony included taekwondo, judo, boxing, gymnastics, football as well as volleyball.
The cultural event will end on August 24 and will officially be closed by Governor Hassan Joho.
Last year's event attracted thousands of visitors and coincided with Coast's tourism peak season.
