Addressing the public at Athi River town yesterday, Mutua noted that the drainage system in the town is not satisfactory.

He observed that the rain experienced in the area for the last three days has left a trail of destruction as a result of the poor drainage system.

“Drainage systems in  most parts of Athi River is in a sorry state. We recently saw the destruction caused by rains,” he said adding that proper drainage system will save locals’ frustrations and fears whenever it rains.

The MCA noted that many households and business premises were flooded following the Tuesday and Wednesday heavy down pour.

“I have written to our governor to have engineers embark on construction of proper drainage systems,” said Mutua.

Mutua also wants the county to immediately repair sections of the roads that were destroyed by the rain. He said some roads have been rendered impassable.

Mutua noted that with poor roads many residents and businessmen will be affected.
