Even though Nairobi governor Mike Sonko was ranked among the poorest performing governors in the country, praises have continued to come his way with Nairobians appearing to show appreciation towards his efforts.
The study findings released by a research group last week revealed that Sonko was the second-most poorly performing governor in the country.
It showed him tied with his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho with 54 percent of residents in respective counties saying they were not satisfied with their service delivery.
However, Sonko's Facebook page keeps showing a different opinion with followers praising the governor for being true to the promises he made during his campaigns.
"Happy new year! Hizo lorry ulituma hapo Kibra karibu na show ground tuliziona, uchafu gone! Every time we used to drive through that road mzee alikuwa ananikumbusha, Sonko alisema atatoa hii uchafu," said a jovial Vivien Jonson while replying to a thread on January 1.
And while responding to a voter who challenged the governor to prove his vote right, Sonko said he was still on course, asking for patience.
"Noted bro though Rome wasn't built in 3 months. I will try my level best to ensure we stick to our pledges on service delivery and transformation of our great city. I will not disappoint you at all. Through God's Will. I have never fought a losing battle since I was in school, prison, business and now politics," he said.
"Hon Mike Sonko will always be my no. 1 inspiration. His attitude towards poor people in society is unbelievable. God created us to love one another and to help each other in times of pain and suffering, and that's what this gentleman does. He has helped dozens of unfortunate people in the society ranging from orphans, adopted children, disabled children, the homeless, the sick, the list is endless. I pray every day for our country Kenya to give birth to such nice and hospitable politicians like the Hon. Mike Sonko. God will always bless you wherever you go and we are here to show all the support you need in your tenure as the Governor of Nairobi," David Kinyua added.
"Hon. Mike Sonko you are truly an inspiration, especially to the young people. We do appreciate the work you are doing in the big city. I know you care a lot about the hawkers, please get them a good place somewhere within the city. In as much as is hard work in the streets, kindly let them do it in an orderly manner," Charles Ekai added.
