According to Kihumba, many tourism potential sites located within Rongai Constituency cannot be accessed by both domestic and foreign tourists due to the pitiable state of road networks in the area.

She said this on Tuesday at Kampi ya Moto business centre, when she addressed women groups from her area of representation, during a table banking training workshop that was organized by Rongai Women Development Programme (RWDP), a local Non-Governmental Organization that promotes local women group’s development programmes.

The MCA urged local women groups to explore and invest in tourism sector, as it had a potential of becoming a key economic venture in the sub county.

“It is worth noting that Rongai Sub County has numerous tourism attractive sites and other potentials including our own cultural traits, but unfortunately, we cannot market these potentials because they cannot be accessed easily due to the poor state of road networks,” she said.

“It is high time the county government’s ministry of tourism looked into this issue. It should come up with a special roads development programme dedicated towards promoting our tourism potentials,” added Kihumba.
