Road users say the contractor used substandard materials that include huge stones which he dumped on the road and left.

The angry residents have spewed their discontent on the area’s Facebook page – Kikuyu the good, the bad and the ugly with area MP Kimani Ichung'wa expressing dissatisfaction in the work.

Ichung’wa said it was unfortunate seeing that he had lobbied for support from the two factories with premises along the road. These two companies are Universal and Steel Rolling.

James Kamau said, “It is unfortunate that the locals have to walk in mud when it rains despite the fact that the contractor was supposed to do an excellent job.”

He also pointed out that culverts along the road were yet to be installed.

The road is used often by buses and trailers transporting raw materials and products to and from the factories.

George Wanjau said he hoped the road issue would be addressed before the rains start again.

“I hope our leaders will push the contractor to finish what he started,” said Wanjau.
