Catholic Church head Pope Francis on Sunday urged pilgrims to put Kenya in prayers due to political uncertainty ahead of October 26th polls.
Miles away in Nakuru, President Uhuru Kenyatta was also leading a national prayer rally where he also committed the country to prayers adding that divisions were unnecessary.
“I am paying close attention in these days to Kenya, which I visited in 2015, and for which I pray that the whole country may face the current difficulties in constructive dialogue.
“I ask you to join my prayer for peace in the world,” Pope Francis said to pilgrims gathered at Sunday Angelus prayers.
At Nakuru, Uhuru took to podium and made a rare prayer adding that he is optimistic that the country will overcome the political stalemate into has been thrown to.
With only three days to presidential repeat polls, opposition leader Raila Odinga has withdrawn from the race citing luck of reforms in the electoral body IEBC.
Interestingly, IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati maintains that the current political environment would not guarantee and free and fair poll.
