Jeff Koinange, a popular television personality has been robbed. The vocal presenter was robbed on Thursday, 2.30 am by armed robbers who sneaked into his home at Kitusuru, Nairobi.
CID boss Ireri Kamwende confirmed the incident saying the armed robbers managed to shoot in the air to scare people and tied the security person in the compound before breaking into the house.
He revealed that the gangsters managed to steal electronics including computers and other items of unknown value.
"The armed men came in through the gate near the river, they shot in the air and tied up the watchman after beating him up," he said.
The officer also said the exact number of the culprits is not known but police have launched investigations into the matter.
Koinange is reported to have escaped unhurt. The news about his unfortunate encounter broke the hearts of his fans in Nakuru. He is well known for his program Jeff Koinange Live which airs on KTN tv.
"It is very unfortunate that he has lost his valuable goods but we thank God that he is alive and unhurt," said Josephine Maundi.
David Njoroge also called on the police to beef up security in residential homes.
"Police should carry out patrol exercise in the residential estates to avoid such incidents," he said.
