Despite insisting that he supports NASA leader Raila Odinga, popular Nyali MP Mohammed Ali defied election boycott order and cast his vote on Thursday.
Slightly a fortnight ago, Ali attended President Uhuru Kenyatta's rally in Kongowea contrary to expectations of many of his supporters.
"Attending a Jubilee rally does not mean I am supporting them. Uhuru came to my constituency and I responded to a few of my supporters who asked me to attend," he said in an interview.
Ali, who was elected as an independent candidate after losing in the ODM nominations, would later on pledge his allegiance to Odinga at a rally in Kibra.
His decision to vote in an election that has been boycotted by Odinga my ignite yet another fierce debate given that most of his supporters are pro - opposition.
"Sometimes we have to put politics aside and show leadership. These two rival teams should sit and talk and as a youth, I want to be a role model," Ali said in response to his decision to attend Uhuru's rally.
For a moment now, the former investigative journalist has been accusing Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his brother Abu Joho of sabotage.
In ODM, Ali was one of influential youths along with Embakasi MP Babu Owino who coordinated Odinga's campaigns early this year.
