Reports that the regulator Communication Authority (CA) had given Posta Kenya a go-head to increase yearly subscription rates for letter boxes and cost of sending parcels has been received with public outcry.
With country experiencing an economic meltdown, which has made inflation to double in digits and cost of living also at its highest, it was uncalled for Posta and CA to add more expenses to Kenyans who are already luggage and struggling to make ends meet.
Many suggest that the Communications Authority of Kenya as a regulator should not have granted this approval but rather advice Posta to look for other sources to raise the capital. What the Postal Corporation has done is chase away their loyal clients who have stuck with them for a long time while paying for the service even when they don’t use that often.
Posta will lose it big as with this digital age most things are sent by internet, our bills or statements are sent by e-mail or other digital platforms. This will many shun the corporation making it even sink further in loses.
The Postal Corporation should be ready for change of user for their 623 outlets across the country other than using them for the highly priced rental boxes.
