Postmortem results for the man who died in Kisumu during Monday's anti-IEBC protests have shown he was shot by a bullet.
The autopsy was conducted on Thursday at the Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu in the presence of the family, police representatives, officials from Independent Police Oversight Authority and ODM party.
The private pathologist who sought anonymity said they removed a bullet from the body of the late Fredrick Ojwang Otieno who hails from Rarieda constituency.
“This matter is sensitive and I would not like my identity to be revealed, but that autopsy is that the guy was killed by a bullet. Now it is up to the authorities to find out where the bullet came from,” he said.
Police had earlier denied reports that the man had died as a result of police shooting but had fallen down during the protests.
Aga Khan Hospital Medical Director in Charge Dr Sam Oula had also denied that the man was shot after he told the media that the deceased fell down and died.
The family is now demanding for justice following the results of the postmortem.
On Wednesday, the widow to the deceased, Mary Awuor, said the death of her husband had devastated her life adding that justice must be done.
“What I want is justice, I want to know what killed my husband,” she said.
