A postmortem examination on the body of rugby player Mike Okombe showed he was stabbed and also hit with a blunt object.

Results showed he died out of excessive bleeding.

The bleeding was caused by a knife stab on the left side of his chest, the postmortem said.

The postmortem was conducted at Valley Hospital in Nakuru.

Pathologists carrying out the exercise said he was hit by a blunt object on the head.

“The cause of death of the player was a knife stab that resulted in excessive bleeding," a report said.

"The wound on the chest was serious, (the knife) penetrated the inner tissues and damaged all the ligaments,” said Japheth Kioko Rongai OCPD.
