Road users in Nairobi will have a reason to smile after the county government initiated works to repair all potholes in the city roads.

While announcing the initiative, Governor Mike Sonko said his County Executive for Roads Mohamed Ahmed Dagane had started the work by going through roads in the CBD.

"Today, Roads, Public Works and Transport sector County Executive Mohamed Ahmed Dagane launched roads repairs in Nairobi. We started with Pothole patching within the CBD," Sonko said on Tuesday.

"Under my leadership, potholes in all our major and feeder roads will be a thing of the past. Nairobi City County will acquire two giant pothole patching machines in this financial year which will be taking just three minutes to fill a pothole and comes with a warranty of 10 years. My government is committed to improving the state of feeder roads in our county," he added.

Potholes have been a major cause of accidents among motorists in the city especially on major highways like Mombasa Road.
