The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Monday expressed their frustration, after their headquarters in Nairobi experienced power outage.

In a tweet posted at 9:36am, IEBC told Kenya Power that the outage was affecting its operations at Anniversary Towers.

“The power outage at Anniversary Towers should be resolved asap. Hurting our operations @Kenya_Re @KenyaPower.”

Kenya Power in a response to the IEBC tweet said, “Duly noted and emergency team to be advised ASAP,”

What followed were mockery replies from Kenyans on Twitter, asking the polls body to use manual back ups.

Chris Agata said “Anniversary Towers doesn’t have back up generators?"

@Swagurasam said, “Hope this doesn’t happen on 8/8" - (Elections day)

One Luther Manoti asked IEBC to use manual back up , “Use manual back up”.
