When politicians attend social functions, locals usually have great expectations in them when in comes to fund drives.
Particularly, in Nyamira County, it is common to have politicians attending functions such as funerals, education and church fundraisers.
And last year, former Culture and social Heritage assistant minister Wilfred Ombui became a ridicule of social media after contributing only Sh10 to a local church.
With the news going viral only, the techno-phobic former North Mugirango MP confessed having sent the money but blamed his poor eyesight.
"I am told that I sent Sh10 to a fund drive but that was not my intention. I thought it was Sh1000 only to hear people telling me about it.
"I think it is because of my eye sight which has deteriorated lately. The error is regrettable and I would reach the organisers," said the former KANU MP in defense.
Besides sending the embarrassing amount, Ombui also, in a national TV, could not express himself in Swahili at a seminar meant to popularize the language when he was minister.
He was among the few trusted lieutenants of President Mwai Kibaki and before his election as MP in 2008, he was a primary school teacher.
