Prasanta Das Sarma has been appointed Airtel Kenya Managing Director.
He succeeds Adil Youssefi, who decided to pursue external opportunities, before completion of his contract period.
Airtel Africa Chief Executive Raghunath Mandava expressed confidence in Prasanta, saying he was the best leader to fill the position.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Prasanta as the Managing Director for the Kenya operation. Prasanta, popularly known as PD, is a seasoned professional with over 31-years of experience in the technology sector,'' said Mandava.
The new Aritel Kenya MD, who is an Airtel veteran, joined the telecommunications firm in 2002. He served in various capacities, the immediate previous post being as MD and CEO of Airtel in Bangladesh.
"He has handled key assignments as well as well as business leadership roles with full P&L ownership. I am confident that under PD’s leadership, our plans will gather further momentum and we look forward to delivering an even better experience to millions of customers across the country,'' added the Airtel Africa CEO, in a statement, Wednesday.
