Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has asked the church to carry out its mandate and address the social and political injustices being propagated by the Jubilee government on opposition leaders.

"We are grateful to the Church for its honourable role of preaching unity and cohesion and its tireless efforts in building bridges across our communities and our leaders to ensure we hold our country together," he said.

Speaking when he joined Kilifi County leaders and faithfuls of the ACK St. Stephen's Church in Dabaso ward during a thanksgiving service, Kingi called on the church to pray for Kenya.

"We highly value the contribution the Church has made in managing the affairs of our country and we urge the Clergy to keep the country in their prayers and intercede for its leaders to marshal the people with wisdom and servant leadership," he said on Sunday.

The thanksgiving service followed the successful election, consecration and enthronement of Bishop Alphonce Mwaro Baya as the 5th Bishop of the Mombasa ACK diocese.
