Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Amina Mohammed asked Kenyans to pray for her as she faces a tough election, today, Monday.
She will face it off with other aspirants for the African Union (AU) Commission chairperson post, as South Africa's Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma retires.
While in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the 28th African Union Summit over the weekend, Amina expressed optimism of clinching the seat, following frequent lobbying by Kenyan government.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have been on the lead, touring various African states, asking top leadership to support her.
However, critics overruled Amina's candidature, saying it was a waste of public resources, for she had failed in her Foreign Affairs docket.
It is believe that candidates from French-speaking countries such as Chad and Senegal were in a better position to takeover from Dlamini-Zuma who succeeded French-speaking Jean Ping in 2012.
